![]() "I'm going to college" Fair and game is quickly approaching. We will meet at Gahr High School in B3 for a pregame meal as a group and then begin our journey at 4PM promptly. The student will attend the fair and then as a group will sit together during the game. The game should last around 3 hours and then we will begin our long journey home. We should arrive on Gahr's campus around 12AM. If your student will attend, please note that all student must be off campus by 12:30AM. Thank you to all the parents who came to Back-to-School Night. Dr. Zietlow said that the attendance was overwhelming higher than last year's. It was great to meet our parents. If you haven't already R.S.V.P. for the tailgate on Friday, it's not too late! Please contact me to let me know how many people you are bringing. Remember, the first 50 parents to arrive will receive free admission to the football game later that night. A welcome and campus information session will be held in the MPR beginning at 6:30, while classroom visitations are at 7PM. Be sure to come a bit early to visit the club booth. The AVID Team would like to invite you to our Football Tailgate Party on Friday, September 27, 2013 beginning at 5PM in the Gahr's tennis courts. The first 50 parents to arrive will receive a free AVID T-shirt which will enable the wearer to watch the Gahr Gladiators Football team against La Habra. We will have food, drinks, and games at no cost to the parent or AVID student. We hope that you will join us on Friday, September 27th All Ninth grade AVId students Beginning today, all 9th AVID students will begin their journey on Khan Academy. Khan Academy is a virtual classroom. Students will work at their own pace during the AVID Elective class on Mondays. Mr. Moreau will review their progress and suggest the videos and mastery test for each student. All 9th graders should know their Facebook user names or their Gmail account information to log into the system. Currently, the Khan focus is math. Therefore, our student will concentrate on math concepts. Other videos and practice are available. If you would like more information about the program, please view the You Tube video below. Senior Seminar students are creating a college crate of their own. Each crate will host the information regarding a particular college is interested in. Please encourage your student to discuss the contents of the crate with you. EVERY WEDNESDAYS IS SENIOR CRATE DAY!

AuthorAVID started at Gahr four years ago. Currently, we have over 150 students in programs from grades 9-12. The program is heavily based on WICOR strategies to assist our students in CORE academics.I have been the coordinator of AVID since the beginning and am currently teaching a 12th grade Senior Seminar class.
