Our Spring/New Parent Workshop is rapidly approaching. Session this time around will include: Financial Aid, SAT Tests, New Parent Orientation, and A-G Requirements. We will provide lunch as well as opportunities to speak with your student's AVID Elective teacher.
We are also hoping that College Bound and Kaplan will also be available for information. We hope that you join us.

A Big thank you goes out to all the AVID kids and parents who helped out this weekend with the City of Cerritos Carnival and Hairspray, the musical. The fundraising was outstanding. Thank you for your support.
Be sure to check out the AVID table at the musical tonight at Gahr HS. AVID is hosting a candy booth at the musical tonight, tomorrow night, Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon. Tomorrow night, we will selling popcorn!!!! Saturday night is Cotton Candy!!
The City of Cerritos will host a three-day festival Friday, April 26, through Sunday, April 28, at the Cerritos Regional Sports Complex at 19900 Bloomfield, Cerritos.
Activities will include carnival rides and games as well as a fireworks show will be featured on Saturday, April 27, at 8:30 P.M. In addition, local eateries will be invited to participate in the "Taste of Cerritos" area on Saturday, April 27th, 12-6PM. AVID will host a KettleKorn and Cotton Candy Booth. Parents and students are encouraged to stop by for support. A BIG Thank you to the parents and students who have volunteered to work the booth. If you would like to join us, please contact Mrs. Moreau. [email protected] There will be no admittance fee to the festival. Rides in the carnival area will require tickets. All-day ride wristbands will be available for purchase for $25 each. For more information, please call the City of Cerritos Recreation Services Division at (562) 916-1254.

Today, AVID students participated in the annual car wash. We, including the adults and AVID elective teachers, had a blast! Each AVID students was encouraged to sell their 5 tickets to help support the club and "work" a two-hour shift. In exchange, Mr. Moreau BBQ hotdogs and Ms. Suzuki brought doughnuts. Over 100 cars were washed today!!!! WAY TO GO AVID Team!
Today, about 25 10th and 11th grade students attended a college fair at Cal. Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. The college represented were mostly small private universities. The students were able to speak with representatives to make connections. In addition, I was able to speak to a few universities about speaking to all of AVID. GO COLLEGE!

AuthorAVID started at Gahr four years ago. Currently, we have over 150 students in programs from grades 9-12. The program is heavily based on WICOR strategies to assist our students in CORE academics.I have been the coordinator of AVID since the beginning and am currently teaching a 12th grade Senior Seminar class.
